The Power of Showing Up: What Two Years with Unifabs Has Taught Us

At Action Change, we have a bit of a reputation for getting our hands dirty. So, when we find a corporate partner who isn’t afraid to do the same, we know we’ve found a “proper” match. As a team, from our CEO to domestic staff, nobody is expected to be chained to a desk. We’re out here making a real impact, but sometimes that means not everyone sees what we are doing. That’s why welcoming partners who come to visit is such a huge highlight for everyone involved.

For the past couple of years, Jason and the team at Unifabs have been a massive part of our journey and family here at Action Change. But they didn’t just send a donation and hope for the best, they hopped on a plane to see the impact for themselves and this is special for us all.

Seeing the Change, Not Just the Spreadsheet

When Unifabs first joined us, Jason was very clear: he wanted to ensure they’d made the right choice. As a founder, he’s incredibly passionate about charity, but he needed to see the work firsthand.

Since then, it’s become an annual tradition. By coming back year after year, Jason hasn’t just seen “a project”—he’s seen a community evolve. He’s seen what’s been done and, crucially, he’s seen where he can assist further. That’s the difference between a donor and a true partner; they stay for the long haul because they’re invested in the people, not just the stats.

Bringing the Impact Back to the Office

One of the things we love most about Unifabs is how they’ve shared this journey with their whole team. In the second year, Jason returned to South Africa with two Unifabs directors. It was great for him to show other members of the team the changes since his previous visit. They left feeling motivated, passionate and excited about being part of a company making life-changing impact around the world. Once landed and back in the office, there were now three members of the Unifabs team with stories to share.. When a team hears stories from their own leaders about site visits, it changes the culture. It’s no longer “the company’s charity”; it’s their charity.

The “Unexpected” ROI: Customer Connection

Jason shared something with us that we think every business owner should hear. Since Unifabs started posting about their site visits and the real-world impact they’re making, their social media engagement has soared. It’s not just about doing the right thing, having unique, impact-driven stories to share can also help strengthen your brand and connect you with a wider audience.

But it’s more than just “likes.” It’s become an incredible icebreaker in sales meetings. Potential customers have already seen the posts; they know what UniFabs stands for.

“Customers support us because we support the right charity.” It turns out, being a good human is actually a brilliant business strategy.
