COVID-19: Unsung Hero

Gill, Head Teacher in the United Kingdom is an Unsung Hero

COVID-19 was indeed unexpected for most of us and it is times like this when a global pandemic hits that we see how people shine and come together. As a charity we are lucky to hear some amazing and inspiring stories from communities around the world on a daily basis but now we want to shout about these amazing kind people and say thank you. We also believe that you should hear about them as it brightened up our day so hopefully it will brighten yours today too…

Meet Gill, above in the middle, who is a normally very busy passionate and supportive headteacher of a primary school just outside London. As you can imagine this is a job that is different most days and very busy so when unexpectedly the schools closed Gill couldn’t sit around and wait for it to re-open. Gill has been carrying on keeping things ticking over for her own school but recently also went out of her way to invest her time into supporting another school that was struggling.

Not prepared for such a huge scale pandemic naturally with decisions to close the schools bring other potential problems for example the access to school dinners for those students that rely upon a government funded daily meal. Gill is supporting another local school by offering a weekly delivery service of food parcels to those students who are not able to get out to the school and rely upon the meal scheme. Currently they are supplying 25 essential meal packs a week to keep children stay fed and healthy. Something you don’t see on the news every day but without people like Gill these students would go without!

From all of us, Thank You Gill, for being a hero to your community!
